Set a Default View

Save your most used views when utilizing the Forecast. This can particularly save time when working on a specific customer or product throughout the day.

Overview

The Set Default View feature in Vividly is a time-saving tool that allows users to customize and save their default preferred search filter configuration, ensuring that every time they navigate to the Vividly page where they set it up, they see exactly the view they need without having to repeatedly apply the same filters, pivots, and selections.

This is particularly valuable for sales teams, demand planners, and finance professionals who have specific focus areas or reporting preferences, as it eliminates the repetitive task of selecting the same customer, year, pivot type, unit of measure, and grouping settings each time they access the module.

Steps to Set Default View in the Forecast page

Before setting a default view, it's helpful to understand which elements of the Forecast are saved. Essentially, everything you see on the screen in the filter section when you click "Set Default View" will be saved as your default::

    • Pivot selection: Whether you're viewing by Customer or Product

    • Customer type: Retailers, Distributors, or All-Other Bucket

    • Year selection: Which forecast year is displayed (e.g., 2024, 2025, 2026)

    • Version: Which forecast version you're viewing

    • View type: Units, Revenue, Promotion, Lift, Seasonality, Stores, or Velocity

    • Unit of measure: Units vs. Cases

    • Group by: Week, Month, or Quarter

    • Filter selections: Any search filters or customer/product filters applied

    • Table sorting: How the table is sorted (alphabetically, by total, etc.)

Once you understand this, follow these steps to set it up:

  1. For this particular case in Forecast, navigate to Insights > Forecast in Vividly.

  2. You'll arrive at the default Forecast view (Vividly's standard configuration if you haven't set a custom default yet), which usually shows no filters set up.

  3. Begin customizing the Forecast or search filters according to your routine needs (ideal use).

  4. Once you've configured all your preferred search filter settings (pivot, customer type, year, view, unit of measure, group by, filters), locate the "Set Default View" button.

  5. Click "Set Default View".

  6. Your current Forecast search filter configuration is now saved as your personal default view.

Note: These steps are equally applicable to any section of the system that includes this feature.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Set up primary specific account: Set default to your primary account (e.g., "Target, 2025, Cases, Week"). Saves time when you start each day reviewing your key account forecast. That's why we stated that you set your search filters for your routine needs.

  • Combine with export: Set your default view to your most common reporting configuration, then you can quickly export with one click.

  • Consistency across modules: Set similar default views in Forecast, Budgeting, and Analytics for seamless module switching.

  • Default view ≠ Generate Forecast: Remember that "Set Default View" saves your display preferences—it does NOT save data changes. Use "Generate Forecast" to save new forecast data.

  • Clear filters periodically: If your default view feels cluttered with old filters, use "Clear All Filters" to start fresh, then set a new clean default.
