View Promotions: Open/Close Lines
Leveraging the Open/Close lines view in Promotions Planning
Overview
The Open/Close Lines view is a dedicated interface for managing the open/closed status of promotion lines. This view allows you to control which promotions are still expecting deductions versus those that have completed their lifecycle.

Why Opening/Closing Matters
Open Status
-
indicates to the finance team that you are still anticipating deductions to come in for that promotion.
Closed Status signals that:
- All expected deductions have been received
- Accrued dollars can be returned to the P&L
- The promotion lifecycle has ended
- ROI can be calculated using actual spend and lift data
How It Works
Line-Level Control
Unlike the standard list view where you manage whole promotions, this view operates at the promotion line level for more granular control.
Bulk Actions
- Select the promotion lines you want to open or close
- Important limitation: You can select up to 30 promotion lines per page. You can select multiple pages.
- Choose your action (Open Lines or Close Lines)
- Filter Strategically: Use customer, promotion dates, and other filters to identify which lines are ready to close (e.g., when expected spend has been reached).
Promotion vs. Promotion Line Behavior
- If any line within a promotion is open, the total promotion is viewed as open
- Only when all lines are closed is the total promotion considered closed
- Closing at the promotion level closes all lines; closing at line level gives you selective control
