Export the Forecast

Understanding Vividly's forecast export

Summary

The Vividly Forecast Export lets you download your forecast data in two formats: Excel (.xlsx) or CSV (.zip). Both formats contain the same data organized into four sections — Retailers, All-Other Buckets, Distributors, and First Receivers. Excel delivers everything in one file with four tabs; CSV delivers a zipped folder with four individual files (one per tab). CSV exports are faster and better suited for large datasets.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Forecast module in Vividly.
  2. In the top-right corner of the Forecast table, click the "gear" icon (⚙️).
  3. A dropdown menu will appear. Select one of the two export options:
    • "Export to Excel" — downloads a single .xlsx file with four tabs.
    • "Export to CSVs" — downloads a .zip folder containing four individual .csv files.
  4. (Optional — as of 03/05/2026) Before exporting, you may use the export filter to:
    • Select a single year of data instead of the default two-year range — useful for reducing file size and export time.
    • Enable Override Indicators to distinguish system-generated values from user-entered values in the Retailer and All-Other Bucket tabs.
  5. The file will begin downloading to your computer.
  6. Open the downloaded file:
    • Excel: Open the .xlsx file directly. You will see four tabs at the bottom of the workbook.
    • CSV: Unzip the .zip folder. You will find four .csv files. Open each file in your spreadsheet software.

Warning — CSV opening in Excel: When opening a CSV file in Microsoft Excel, you may see a dialog referencing "data conversions." Click Convert to proceed. Skipping this step may result in incomplete or incorrectly formatted data.

Note — Group By affects the export: The export reflects the time frame currently selected in the Forecast table. To export monthly data, first change the "Group By" dropdown to "Month" before running the export.

Export Format

📊 Excel (.xlsx)

  • Single file download
  • 4 tabs in one workbook
  • Filename includes version name and year (e.g., forecast_export_weekly_2026_v12.xlsx)
  • Best for: smaller datasets, users who prefer a single file

📁 CSV (.zip)

  • Zipped folder with 4 separate files
  • 1 file per tab/section
  • Files are numbered and named (e.g., 1_Retailers_(POS).csv)
  • Best for: large datasets, faster processing, system integrations

The Four Tabs / Files

Both Excel and CSV exports contain the same four datasets. The content in each Excel tab matches its corresponding CSV file exactly.

Tab / CSV File Name Data Type Customer Types Included
Retailers (POS)
1_Retailers_(POS).csv
Point-of-Sale (POS) Retail customers
All-Other Buckets (POS)
2_All-Other_Buckets_(POS).csv
Point-of-Sale (POS) All Other Bucket (AOB) customers (e.g., UNFI All Other, KeHE All Other)
Distributors (Shipment)
3_Distributors_(Shipment).csv
Shipment Distributor customers (e.g., UNFI, KeHE, DSD)
First Receivers (Shipment)
4_First_Receivers_(Shipment).csv
Shipment First Receivers — direct customers and distributors with shipment timing applied

Note: Each row in every tab corresponds to a single (Customer, Product, Date) data point.

Note — Monthly & Quarterly exports: When exporting in Monthly or Quarterly view, time-period columns change accordingly (e.g., Week becomes Month or Quarter), and some weekly-only columns such as VelocityLiftPromotion (Y/N), and Actual/Forecast are omitted.
